History
The Houston Magnolia is housed in the historic former Post Dispatch Building. The 254,000 square-foot, 22-story building was built in 1926 in downtown Houston and hailed as one of the most impressive office buildings in the state. The hotel opened in March 2003 after a full renovation, re-establishing the property as one of the area's most distinctive structures. In 2009, the hotel was renovated to offer all new common areas, a new lounge, newly designed ballroom, and executive suites on the 22nd floor.
Additionally, a highlight of the renovation is the Ross Sterling Presidential Suite, a luxurious suite on the penthouse floor that has accommodated numerous celebrities. The Ross Sterling features a grand dining room on a black and white checkerboard floor with a modern stainless and granite kitchen; a classy lounge with mod seating arrangements, flat-screen TVs and one-of-a-kind accessories and décor; and a plush bedroom with enhanced bedding package and private bathroom. The Ross Sterling also has the option of adding a second adjoining bedroom for guests who desire more space.
