The Magnolia Hotels in Dallas and Houston Complete Renovations
Dec. 18, 2008 (DENVER)—The Magnolia hotels in Dallas and Houston recently completed multi-million dollar renovations, giving the historic Texas gems a sparkling new look in time for the holiday season. A centerpiece of the renovations at both properties is completely new public areas, including newly designed meeting and event space.
At The Magnolia Dallas, $3 million was invested to give Dallas’ most iconic hotel a fresh, new look. Guestrooms, public areas and meeting space were revamped with modern furnishings, fixtures and décor.
The signature Pegasus Room ballroom received a facelift, ensuring the Pegasus Room is the hottest place in town to host an event, now more than ever. The 3,500-square-foot Pegasus Room is a one-of-a-kind event space located directly across the street from the hotel, in the historic art deco-style Dallas Power & Light Building. With 18-foot ceilings, the Pegasus Room has three unique chandeliers and glamorous white sheer draperies. An innovative LED lighting package ensures the space can transform into any color one desires—green, gold, plum, blue or champagne are just a few of the lighting options, which truly add pizzazz. Elegant custom-made modern art deco-style eight-foot mirrors add to the glamorous look and give the space an open, bright appearance. The foyer/pre-function ballroom space has a unique display wall that features 40 bamboo cubes. The cubes are extremely versatile, enabling the event planner to display candles, vases of floral arrangements or product—giving a custom look to the wall that is reflective of the client or theme of the event. The stage, perfect for a band and with full audio/visual capacity and a screen that can be used to display photos, a logo or video, is covered by a sleek metal mesh curtain. Custom artwork with the Pegasus—the mythical flying red horse that sits atop the Magnolia’s roof and has become an icon of Dallas—decorates the foyer walls. A custom frosted glass sign displaying The Pegasus Room name greets guests upon departing from the elevators.
The Magnolia Club, a great space for private events on the hotel’s second floor, has a new look with contemporary leather, metal and textured fabric seating arrangements in cozy conversation areas. Wall coverings were inspired by nature, and rustic motifs are subtly interwoven in the design. Light filters through woven shades, and rich, bold hues help create a warm, intimate setting. The Magnolia Dallas’ Library has a “Texas modern” design with a textured cowhide wall covering that surrounds a fireplace covered in dark grey tile. Black leather and chrome chairs and textured sofas provide cozy seating, while side tables resembling cut pieces of tree trunks provide a touch of nature to the modern room.
Meeting rooms and pre-function areas on the hotel’s third floor offer a sophisticated setting, with marble and high-gloss white metal furnishings. Twilight blue leather and plated nickel seating areas are offset by sophisticated patterned flooring. Streamlined benches in leather, and metal mesh chairs encompass the perimeter of the glass mezzanine level. Soft blue and beige tones accent the Board Room.
The Magnolia Dallas also revamped the look of its 330 guestrooms, of which 129 are suites. The new décor and bedding package is peaceful and refined, with a grey color palette and shimmering accents of magenta and blue portrayed in the flooring, art and pillows. The bedding consists of a plush mattress topper and mattress pad, 300-thread-count sheets, a triple-sheeted down blanket and an accent throw. Four pillows are provided: two down-filled and two poly-filled. Deep grey leather furnishings and natural wood tones complete the sophisticated design, and soft lighting enhances the guestrooms’ tranquil feel.
At The Magnolia Hotel in Houston, a renovation focused on the hotel’s entire public space. The Magnolia Club showcases oversize metallic columns and a mix of leather, metal and interesting art work accent pieces. Conversation areas are defined with brightly colored deep magenta wall coverings and shimmery fabrics. A sophisticated use of glass accents, including a glass chandelier, adds sparkle throughout the Club. The Library consists of warm textured furniture, contemporary floral urns, and a large-scale geometric pattern wall covering. Anchored by a sleek metal conference table with contemporary leather and chrome executive chairs, the Library also has a wood-paneled wall with numerous niches for books and accent pieces, and ample natural lighting filtering in through woven blinds. Meeting rooms offer a high-style design with sleek seating areas in leather and chrome, offset by patterned flooring. A neutral green background is complemented by grape accents on the walls and chairs.
In conjunction with the newly revamped meeting and event space, Magnolia Hotels is offering a promotion for meeting planners. For those who hold a meeting at any Magnolia hotel by March 31, 2009, the planner can select from a host of complimentary offerings. Options include the planner’s choice of a suite upgrade for all guests; one complimentary night for 15 room occupancies; or 50 percent off Sunday arrivals; and the planner’s choice of two of the following: morning or afternoon break; LCD projector rental; cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception; or meeting room rental.
