Every corner whispers tales of timeless glamour—come add your chapter to the legacy.

The Mayfair Building's Legacy

In the heart of our bustling city, stands the Mayfair building, a beacon of hospitality for almost a century. Its founding father, the esteemed Charles Heiss, was a seasoned hotelier, having meticulously honed his skills from a tender age of sixteen. With the establishment of the Mayfair, he fulfilled his aspiration to surpass the standards of service and luxury offered by his peers. This pursuit of excellence laid the foundation for an enduring legacy of elegance that has gracefully transitioned into the Magnolia's present incarnation. Today, the Magnolia proudly carries the torch of Mayfair's legacy, showcasing the transformative power of timelessness. The hotel's meticulously preserved architectural details pay homage to its illustrious past seamlessly blending modern amenities and details, ensuring an extraordinary experience for every guest.

The Beautiful and Stunning Magnolia Hotel

The building was designed by prominent architect Preston J. Bradshaw, and styled in Italian Renaissance Revival. Mat-faced brick and terracotta trim unite the exterior with the foyer and lobby with its hand-painted ceiling. Chandeliers, rumored to have been won on a wager and shipped from Las Vegas by Charles Heiss himself, hang adorned on the ceilings, adding to the elegance of the hotel. These surroundings became home to Missouri’s first five-star restaurant, the Mayfair Room; the state’s first female hotel manager, Julie King; St. Louis’s first rooftop pool; the birth of chocolates on the pillow, introduced by cinematic icon Cary Grant; and nationally acclaimed chef Edward Voegeli who introduced the lunch “salad plate” (we continue to serve its famous Mayfair dressing) to a nation.
